Day Reflections for my husband and I (is this where we or how we want to end up)
I thought my husband that you and I reflect on the story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia and then decide our way forward. Remember when this story first came out we swore we would never be like that. You remember that day in 1989 the day after we got married that Kiranjit made the headlines. This Indian lady born 1n 1958 was subjected to 10 years of domestic violence. She married this man Deepak having met him once through an arranged marriage. She gave him two sons, yet in those years she endured so much physical, psychological and sexual abuse.
She looked for help from family but they told her it was her duty to stay with her husband. Nobody understood what she was going through so on that day in 1989 after Deepak threatened to break her ankles and burn her face with an iron she snapped. She got caustic soda and petrol as the father of her children was in bed and poured it over him and set him alight.
He sustained serious burns and died 10 days later.
She just snapped. Everyone has a breaking point. So my husband lets reflect on this day. To reinforce please I plead on your ipad link up on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/kiranjit_Ahluwalia
I shall be revisiting this story too and will reply your letter tomorrow.
